Welcome to this week's edition of “Your Mindset To Millions” where we discuss how to monetize your expertise through book publishing, speaking, programs and entrepreneurship

Hi, I’m Patricia. 👋

My superpower is helping people package their expertise and knowledge into books, courses, speeches, and programs.

Today, I’m sharing how to write a book that creates leveraged information for you and your audience …

In this edition, I’ll be covering:

📌 How to write a book people care about

📌 Leveraging your book into other revenue sources

📌 Building raving fans for you and your superpowers

To illustrate, I’ll spotlight how I did this with one of my books, “The Write Plan”.

Quick context about me . . .

I have written 19 bestselling books (3 with Simon & Schuster).

I have helped 100s of others write their books and package their expertise into courses, certification programs, college-accredited courses, speeches & workshops.

This model is hard to beat for those interested in creating a transformation for their reader by sharing what they know.

I aim to summarize my lessons, share what has worked, and shortcut the process for you.

Fair warning: this is thorough because I am giving you the blueprint without omitting details.

Let’s get to it …

📌 How To Write a Book People Care About

You should first consider the transformation you want to create for your audience.

Ask yourself, “What is the #1 result I want for my reader?”

To understand this, consider the takeaway you want to ensure your reader gets.

The takeaway usually boils down to one of these things regarding your topic:

  • Wanting the reader to feel or think differently about something

  • Changing the reader’s worldview

  • Teaching the reader how to do something

  • Teaching the reader why something is important

  • Empowering your reader

  • Hoping your reader takes action on something

Each of your educational products (book, course, workshop, etc.) should address one of these things. Make sure you can summarize this into 1-sentence:

“The #1 result the reader will get from my book is _________________. “ This becomes your book’s North Star.

Based on the above, identify your ideal client and reader. Remember: you want your book to attract and build an audience for your other transformative products and services.

The attributes I look for in potential readers and clients for our business are:

  • They know they have a message, story and/or superpower to share.

  • They are decisive and responsive.

  • They want to write a high-quality book.

  • They believe in giving back and legacy.

  • They are accountable to themselves and others.

… and most importantly, THE ARE COACHABLE

Creating this list gives you the motivators for your ideal reader, which helps you identify what stories, examples, and information you need to share in your book.

You can use these questions to help you map out what to include in each chapter:

What challenge is my reader trying to solve?

What do they want to know vs. what they need to know?

What stories will best resonate with them?

How can I deliver the fastest route for my reader to get a result?

What can I share to build credibility and trust?

How will the information I share change their life?

Why is my book and message different from what they’ve already heard?

How will my reader continue their relationship with me after the book?

This last question brings us to the next item, which is . . .

📌 Leveraging Your Book Into Other Revenue Sources

Once you’ve written and published your book, now what?

This is where most people drop the ball, consider their book a big failure, and feel their book did less than expected.

To understand how and why this happens, it’s important to look at the typical sequence of events when writing a book:

  • Author has an idea for a book and writes the book
  • Author publishes book with a standard book launch
  • Author leaves their reader hanging because they don’t know what to do after they read the book
  • Reader moves on and forgets about the author.

There are two major problems with this plan:

👉The author only creates a plan for the book vs. a strategic plan for the transformation for the reader.

👉 The book’s success is only measured by the number of book sales.

Whereas if you leverage your book into other products and services, you better serve your ideal audience AND you are not dependent on the number of books sold to make money.

Here are 5 ways I’ve repurposed and leveraged The Write Plan, so my readers get massive results and engage with me after they’ve read my book.

#1. Write Plan Course

This low-ticket course, for only $27, helps someone outline and map out their book in a weekend. For a very low investment, someone can experience what it is like to work with me because I help them get a quick win and amazing result.

#2. Write Impact Book Academy

This is my DIY course that covers writing, publishing, packaging, marketing and launching a book. It’s a huge resource library for the entire process. And for only $297, it provides everything someone needs to write a book based on traditional publishing standards where they can go at their own pace. This same program is currently available at 27 accredited colleges for $697.

#3. Group Coaching

We provide a 3-month group coaching program that is very bespoke and high-touch.

We help each person map out their perfect leveraged plan. This includes a 1-on-1 book mapping call with me, 3 months of group coaching, and a 1-on-1 call with my partner Wendi Blum Weiss to outline their signature speech.

With weekly manuscript reviews and access to the Write Impact Book Academy, our future bestselling authors have everything they need to write an amazing, transformative book and a plan for leveraging it.

This $4997 program is one of our signature offers.

This program is the obvious support mechanism for writing a book that supports a full-time business.

#4. 1-on-1 Coaching

The highest touch program with 100% customization (and the most expensive). This is what we do the least.

In a leveraged business, 1-on-1 coaching is one of the few things that is not scalable.

Think about it; there’s only one of you and 24 hours a day, so price this option accordingly.

We currently service only a handful of clients in this category.

*If you are just getting started, this is one of the easiest services to offer first, as it only requires a Zoom account and your expertise.

#5. Public Speaking Events

Part of the fun of writing a book is sharing your message. Whether it’s a live or virtual stage, speaking in front of a group of people is a great way to create a tremendous impact.

You can host retreats, conduct workshops, and appear on podcasts. Writing a book opens the doors to endless possibilities.

📌 Building Raving Fans For You and Your Superpowers

Unexpected benefits and opportunities arise when you start packaging your expertise into books and programs. Once someone starts working with you and your superpowers, they often stick around. I have now helped people create and launch:

  • Book proposals for traditional book deals
  • Digital courses
  • College programs
  • Software solutions & apps
  • Workshops
  • Virtual schools and K12 programming

The same thing will happen for you. I’ve got clients launching political careers, global speaking tours, non-profits, capital raises, certification programs, corporate training and consulting agencies.

You just never know who will be drawn to your book and what they will approach you to do.

For me, it started when I wrote a personal development book for teens that reached a global audience with Simon & Schuster.

I would never have guessed that it would evolve into coaching C-Suite executives, entrepreneurs, future thought leaders, and athletes on writing and publishing their books.

This led to collaborations and relationships that turned into four companies (one of them a software company) and helped hundreds of others package their expertise into books, courses, products, and services.

You just never know . . .

I hope you enjoyed this blueprint on how to write a book to leverage into a full-time business.

When the Business You’re Building Is Draining
Let me take you back to where my business really began: It started with a book. Not a lead magnet. Not a brand play. A book that documented the proprietary methodology I’d been using to get clients real results. From that one asset, I built everything else:→ A college-accredited course→ A certification program→ A B2B training library powered by AI→ A low-ticket digital product→ Consulting + co...
17 Ways To Use A Book In Your Business
Most book publishing companies or book writing websites will not tell you what I am about to share in this newsletter. Either they are not very good at coming up with ideas about leveraging your book, or they want you to buy their expensive marketing services that rarely work for nonfiction authors. You Don't Need A Side Hustle If You Do This
When I started my publishing company, WoosterMedia, ten years ago, I helped people write books through self-publishing, traditional book deals, or ghostwriting. That is where my service offerings began and ended: a published book. It was a great business, but it felt hollow to me.🤔 Because . . . people did not know what to do with their book once it was written.  They spent months writing it...
